Personal Growth with Community Service Projects
Service Promotes Academic and Personal Growth
All Sedona Sky Academy students participate in school-sponsored service projects that further promote academic and personal growth. Students and staff work together as a team to foster a community of warmth, respect, mutual cooperation, friendship, and leadership.
These off campus community service projects occur 3–4 times a week, representing an incredible amount of work and the impact the girls can have on others.
At Sedona Sky, we believe that academic rigor should be combined with stimulating opportunities for hands-on, real-world learning. Therefore, we use learning trips and community service to enhance the academic experience and give our girls life-changing practice in reaching out to people in need.
Our students learn the meaning of service through volunteer projects, such as singing at a retirement community, or feeding the homeless every Friday. In fact, every girl has the opportunity to develop new community service projects that deal with an issue dear to their heart.
By identifying and planning service projects, our students learn skills such as:
- Project management
- Planning and time management
- Goal setting & achievement
These projects not only warm the heart, but reinforce our academic curriculum, and are great for resumes and school applications. Whether planting a garden or working on arts and crafts projects to share with a senior home, these experiences build compassion and demonstrate how service can fill a life with meaning.
